Studies and research cover a wide range of Earth Sciences such as General Geology, Palaeontology, Structural Geology, Stratigraphy, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, Ore Deposits, Geochemistry, Seismology, Geophysics, Physical Geography, Environmental Geology, Meteorology, Climatology etc.
The Undergraduate Programme of the School of Geology provides to all graduates the fundamental knowledge and competencies for the effective practice of the profession of Geologist, and, additionally, offers to students the opportunity to further enrich their knowledge in one of the following directions: 1) Structural Geology – Stratigraphy, 2) Applied Geology, 2) Mineralogy – Petrology, 4) Economic Geology, 5) Geophysics, 6) Meteorology and Climatology, 7) Environmental Geography.
The School of Geology offers two Programmes of Postgraduate Studies: “Geology and Geoenvironment” and “Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Environment”. The Postgraduate Programme “Geology and Geoenvironment” qualifies graduate students in the following six main fields of specialization: 1) Structural Geology and Stratigraphy, 2) Applied and Environmental Geology, 3) Natural Resources – Environment, 4) Geophysics, 5) Petrology – Geochemistry, 6) Geography and Environment.
